QA Lead

We believe that some of our best memories come from shared experiences with friends. As we begin crafting how to bring people together in positive ways, we are looking for a talented QA lead who is excited to explore new ground. We are in the early days of our studio and there’s a unique opportunity to have an impact on what we are making and how we go about making it. We know our games will be at their best when a variety of voices, identities, and perspectives go into their creation, so come join us!

An ideal candidate will have strong quality assurance testing experience as well as experience building test plans and executing them. Due to the small size of our team, in this role you can expect to initially act as the sole QA resource for the team helping to investigate new systems, designs, and assets while partnering with the team to get the most critical issues addressed. Over time this role will grow to encompass owning the quality assurance process and outcome in its entirety including building the test plan, managing the execution of the test plan, partnering with outsourcing, and more.

What you’ll do:

  • Research, report, and manage bugs
  • Participate in hands on play of daily builds, identifying blockers to playtesting
  • Organize, schedule, and facilitate team playtests
  • Collaborate with the team to craft test plans then coordinate (especially with engineering) resolving bugs
  • Help define the quality bar for the game, setup quality flow pipelines, and deliver against the quality bar
  • Lead and manage our external testing partners
  • Identify in-game debug functionality (cheats, etc.) and external stand alone tooling required for testing
  • Uncover places where automated testing could help improve efficiency
  • Expand QA effort where appropriate to include localization QA, Certification testing, and hardware config testing

What we need:

  • Experience as a quality assurance leader working on AAA games
  • Understanding of good bug reporting and quality metrics tracking
  • Strong experience leading and coordinating quality assurance from early development through launch
  • Proven ability to create effective test plans and execute against them
  • A willingness to get your hands dirty initially acting as the team’s sole quality assurance resource
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Expertise with quality assurance tools such as JIRA, Favro, etc.

Bonus if you have it:

  • Experience with mobile including mobile submission processes and timelines
  • Experience with console submission processes and timelines
  • Experience with the Unity game engine
  • Technical background in software development

If these things resonate with you and you find yourself curious about what we are doing at Secret Door, please reach out!
