Sunderfolk Closed Beta: What to Expect

November 30, 2024

The Sunderfolk Closed Beta is coming soon!

Here’s what to expect:

ABOUT THE CLOSED BETA

When we announced Sunderfolk, we talked about our team’s vision for the game—what inspires us as gamers, what drives us as developers, and what motivates our design decisions day over day. That vision is also our promise to you, our players, regarding the gameplay experience we hope to provide at launch and beyond.

We want to start paying out that promise as soon as possible, and the first stop in that journey is the Sunderfolk Closed Beta!

In addition to identifying critical bugs and optimization improvements, one of our biggest priorities for the Closed Beta is to gather real feedback from real players in real settings so that we can make sure we’re hitting on our vision on all fronts. As a result, our Closed Beta will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S—and all selected participants will have access to the full game during our testing period.

CLOSED BETA SCHEDULE

The Sunderfolk Closed Beta will run from mid-December 2024 through mid-January 2025.

Since we’ll be testing the full game (including all available classes, cards, equipment, encounters, and systems), access to the Closed Beta will be limited and available by invitation-only. Selected participants will be notified approximately one week prior to the start of our official testing period via email, with full details regarding our testing schedule, installation instructions, and gameplay guides arriving at that same time.

(Don’t worry—we’ll notify our community when invites go out!)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

In order to be eligible to participate in the Sunderfolk Closed Beta, you must first sign up! Our Closed Beta sign-up form should take you no more than a few minutes to fill out—so, if you haven’t already, be sure to submit your response today.

(Already signed up? Then you’re good to go!)

Step 1: Create a Dreamhaven account

Step 2: Link your Steam, PlayStation, and/or Xbox accounts

Step 3: Link your Discord account

If you’re selected to participate in the Sunderfolk Closed Beta, you will also be invited to our private testing server on Discord. While completely optional, we’ll be using this server to centralize all news, updates, conversations, and feedback related to the Closed Beta, so we highly encourage you to join! Similar to the Closed Beta itself, access to this server will be restricted and—in order to see and use most of its channels—you will first need to complete the three steps listed above.

We’ll share these instructions again in our Sunderfolk Closed Beta invitation email; however, you’re welcome to jump on them and get a head start.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I opt-in to Closed Beta?

To sign up for the Closed Beta, complete our Sunderfolk Closed Beta survey. (If you’ve already signed up, no further action is needed!)

How are Closed Beta participants selected?

Closed Beta participants are chosen based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) your gameplay region, when you signed up, your platform and hardware specifications, and an element of luck.

How many players do you plan to invite to Closed Beta?

The number of players we invite will be largely based on our testing needs; however, since we will be providing participants access to the full game, we will intentionally be keeping the total number of invites fairly small (i.e. in the thousands).

How will I know if I’m selected to participate in Closed Beta?

If you’re selected to participate in the Closed Beta, you will receive an invite via email that will include your Closed Beta key as well as instructions for installation and joining our private testing server on Discord. Invites will be sent to the email address you provided in your sign-up survey (and will be sent from an official “@dreamhaven.com” address). If you receive an email that appears to be an invite, but are unsure if it’s legitimate, we encourage you to forward it to support@dreamhaven.com for confirmation.

Will I be able to talk about Closed Beta publicly?

No. While we're very excited for you to join us on our development journey, we're not yet ready to reveal anything more about Sunderfolk publicly. As a result, Closed Beta is considered both CONFIDENTIAL and PRIVATE, and covered by our Dreamhaven Closed Test Agreement. Leaks would be pretty harmful at this stage, so we’re trusting participants to not share, stream, post, and/or otherwise discuss any information they learn from or about the game during Closed Beta outside specifically sanctioned channels.

When does Closed Beta begin and end?

The Closed Beta will begin in mid-December and conclude in mid-January. Selected participants will be provided with exact dates via email and through our private testing server on Discord.

What content will be playable during Closed Beta?

The Closed Beta will include the full game (all classes, cards, equipment, and encounters).

What platforms are supported during Closed Beta?

The Closed Beta will be available on Steam (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series XIS.

What regions are supported during Closed Beta?

For this phase of testing, the only supported regions are North America and Europe.

What languages are supported during Closed Beta?

For this phase of testing, the only supported language is English.

Will I need to have access to a phone or table in order play during Closed Beta?

Yes. You will need to have access to a compatible Apple or Android mobile device.

Will my progress from Closed Beta carry over into the live game?

No. We've no plans at this time for progress made during Closed Beta to carry over to the live game. At present, we’re looking to reset all player data at the conclusion of our testing period.

Will I be able to play solo during Closed Beta?

Absolutely! All encounters in our game can be played solo, if desired.

Will I be able to play with friends during Closed Beta?

Yes! If selected to participate in Closed Beta, you will be able to host Sunderfolk games—and thus can play with up to three (3) other players via Local or Remote Play at any given time. (Please note, however, that anyone who accesses the Closed Beta build will be subject to our Dreamhaven Closed Test Agreement and all its confidentiality requirements.)
